I'm guessing you've read my story and may be asking... what is PCOS?! Or if you haven't read my story yet, you may have heard of PCOS and been curious as to what it is and what you should do if you were diagnosed with it.
I'll start by saying I am not a doctor, so this advice is not intended to treat, cure of prevent any disease but this is just my personal experience I'd love to share with you.
Polycystic ovary syndrome is a disorder involving irregular, few and far between or absent menstrual periods, along with excess male hormone (androgen) levels which often cause weight gain, unwanted hair, anxiety/depression, acne and sometimes in its worst cases... even Type 2 Diabetes and heart attacks.
It is some serious stuff and for all those who have been effected with it, know how hard it is to manage it.
PCOS is when the ovaries develop small follicles (cysts) which often causes the ovaries to not regularly release eggs. The exact cause of PCOS is unknown, yet this hormonal disorder effects 1 out of every 10 women whom are primarily in the reproductive age. The good news is that it is said that early diagnosis and treatment along with weight loss may reduce the risk of long-term complications such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
So ladies, if you're missing your periods, gaining unexpected weight, have acne, male pattern baldness, having excessive hair growth in weird places or other symptoms... go to the doctor!
Coming from personally having PCOS, I get it! I've now spent 10 years fighting this terrible syndrome and finally have gotten it under control. I encourage you to read my story and why I came to make Ovary Good. I hope it inspires you to do the same.
If you're ever in need of help, advice or have any questions... I'm here for each and every one of you. You can contact me at email@example.com and I will respond to you personally.
